Yes Virginia! There Is Sunshine and Internet!

Saturday, Sept 29, 2012

First let me apologize for promising a post on Thursday and Friday and not delivering.  I will have to bank that little info into my brain, never to promise I'll have Internet for blogging.  Lesson learned.

Now for what my family has been patiently waiting for.  Pictures of some very beautiful and well behaved Golden Girls.

Don't you just love those smiles!

There's nothing better than a day at the Zoo

We really truly enjoyed spending the day with Sarah, Hannah and Natalie.  And of course their friend Gabby.  Thank you Sarah for taking the time out of your very busy schedule and sharing those smiles with us.  You are a wonderful Mom!

Back to our campsite by late afternoon just in time for the rain to start.  I tried for 2 hrs or more to post a blog with no success.  Early to bed and early to rise back on the road heading south.  If there is one state in this country I hate traveling it is Pennsylvania.  If you have ever traveled 81 through that state, I am sure you know what I am talking about.  And no, they have still not finished the construction in Scranton.  I have been traveling that route for over 20 years and I really don't think they will ever finish that road.

So glad to be in Virginia tonight!

Check engine light came on today.  Ed is pretty sure it's the coils.  So an extended stay in NC will be welcome so he can replace them.  Not a cheap thing to fix, but at least we know what it is and how to fix them ourselves..
Soup and leftovers for dinner and off to bed.

Goodnight!

Whoo Hoo! We're off!

Just a quick post tonight with no pictures.  We are finally on the road.

After what seemed like forever, we were able to start out at 11:30am this morning.  We only drove as far as the Casino in Hoagansburg as planned.  Just a short distance to start with and make sure everything ran smooth.  All is good.  Ed only needed to adjust some cables on the tow hitch.
We had a great lunch at the casino for my b'day.  Although I am no where near senior age yet, it's always great to be included in Ed's discount.  2 buffet lunches $8.00 total.  Camping at casino with electric,  $10.  Did a little gambling and back to rv to watch a movie and a nap.  Had a wild rain storm in the late afternoon.  It's funny how past memories kick in.  Always having camped in tents in the past, hearing the rain on the roof made me feel like I should be grabbing buckets and towels to keep things dry.
Velma seems to be enjoying the ride.  Only hid under the couch once.  Corn chowder for dinner, and relax with the cat.
Tomorrow we head for Syracuse to see Sarah, Car and the girls.  I promise to have pictures.

Goodnight for now,
Judy and Ed

The time is nearing....

First let me start by apologizing to my blogger followers.  I am sorry there have been no posts since May.  There has been absolutely nothing going on here except waiting for the days to count down.  Ed's official retirement date is not until the middle of August.  Although he only has to work 2 more days, (with the exception of voluntary overtime) and he is done.

The truck should be all wired this week so it can be towed.  Yeah!  We need to replace the spark plug coils in the camper too.  I think we'll be doing that ourselves.  $1,000+ at the shop vs. $300 us.

Velma's walking jacket should be here this week.  This will be fun to watch.  Note:  we had the vet clip her nails Thursday,  wish I had caught that on film,  LOL.

The satellite is hooked up in the camper now as is the 42" tv.  Just figured out we don't get local channels with this satellite.  We will have the DirectTV guy over to fine tune things.

The days go by slow here, I have got myself in the ho hums because it's "get excited about this fabulous adventure we are about to embark on, yet sit here and wait."  The weather has been too hot to do anything outside.  I slip out in the early morning and pick berries.  I also have been selling Tupperware to pass the time.  ANYTHING to pass the time.

We tried to take the Motor home to the casino for a test run and before we hardly got out of town we were misfiring the #5  coil.  Back home to exchange for the truck.  Brought the camera, only to discover the sd card was in the computer at home. Had a nice dinner and played a few machines.  Ed was pretty lucky and we broke even, gas dinner and play.

A little excitement coming up this week.  Our annual water balloon fight.  My Dad has been doing this for about 15 yrs.   5,000+ water balloons!  Yes we have a large family  8 kids, 18 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren.  This is our big event of the year.  It takes us 3 days to fill the balloons and all day Sunday to explode them.  Everyone pitches in to fill them, I love this filling time, I get to spend  time with my Dad. Having such a big family it's  hard to find one on one quality time with him.

I have a special surprise for the little ones this year.  I purchased 3 big balloons to fill.  2- 3 ft round and 1- 9ft round balloon.  Should have some great pictures this year.  These are just a few of the 1200+ photos I took last year.

So, just waiting for the day Ed finally says load em up we're moving into the camper.  I hope it's soon because I'm afraid if we wait to long I will be rushed for time and over pack and forget lots.  OK, OK, that's just an excuse to get moving, I'M BORED and want to start this adventure NOW!  So hang tight, with any luck things will liven up and my next blog post will have some excitement.  Till next time.....Judy and Ed

Guess Who Moved Out

 Here comes the boss!

This will be a short post tonight, because slow Internet in the camper.  We have spent the last 2 nights in the camper to enjoy the cool nights during this heat wave, and to see how Velma would like it.  Well let me say that after she spent the first night waking me up every hour looking for lovings.  And sleeping for the entire day in the house.  I decided, Oh no you don't! & Threw her outside about 2pm so she would sleep the night.  Well "OK" she said "fine, I'll just move into the camper and I am not going back into the house.  She refuses to come into the house, and I even carried her in, but she ran right back out.  LOL  She goes into the camper to take her naps and comes out to chase her little chipmunk around and harass the Hairy woodpecker ( as he does her).  And as soon as I head towards the camper, she bolts for the door.

And these are just a couple friends while out for a walk.

Thanks for stopping by,
Have fun out there!

Rainy day and sleep

Rainy day and sleep

What better day to do a little catching up on my blog.  First I want to thank all who have welcomed us to blogland and all the great tips I received.  What a wonderful warm welcome!

As you can tell, right now we will not post very often, as we are not doing much in the interest department.  Mostly yard work, Dr. apt's and family stuff.

We took a little trip to Albany (300  mile round trip) this past weekend for our Grandsons birthday party.  Lucas turned 6 this year and decided he wanted his party at a playground.  I could spend all day taking candid pictures of childrens innocent smiles and expressions.  Priceless!

Happy Birthday Lucas

Mothers Day was wonderfull!  I got to spend the day with my 2 daughters working in the gardens.  What better day can you ask for! (sorry no photos of that day, my fingers were a little to dirty to lug around a camera).

Since my last post we have had visitors, my nieces and thier daughters stopped in for a visit.  I love to dress them up in pretty bling or hats and turn them lose in my garden and yard to pick flowers and edibles.

I played in the garden, refreshed the mulch and transplanted some reseeded perennials into pots to give away to visitors who stop in.
Doing a little doggy daycare for my grandpup Chewy, which is why I am catching up on some sleep today.  My daughter called at 3 am last night, needing her mommy for a trip to the emergency room.  Kidney stones 5mm.  She is having a rough day today, I am glad the Urologist can see her on thursday, she's going to need help passing this one.  We love to have Chewy over, he's just over 2yrs old now and a bit of a hard head.  He lives in the city with my daughter and does not have place to run.  So we have him up as much as we can so he can run on our 5 acres.  However we have to watch him close because of his one track mind, "Did I see a rabbit!"," Oh! was that a squirl?", "Can I play in the swamp?"  "You know you love me Grandma!"
And last but not least, Velma reminds me I need to get back up on the roof of the rv and get it cleaned and resealed.
Velma is a bit of a funny cat.  I am the only person she allows to pet her.  Most people can try, but once she realizes it's not me and she's had enough, she will let you know in a painfull way.  She loves our motorhome.  Although she has never been camping with us, she has taken several rides in it.  Everyday she insists we go out and sit in it with her for a few minutes.  Next week we plan on dewinterizing the camper and spending a few days living in it, so we can start some packing lists.  She will enjoy that, I am sure.

I hope I have not broken too many of the blog "rules" (ha ha just joking) and bored you with to much of my ho hum days.  As this is the beginning of our new blog, I figured filling you in on some of our everyday things to start off, seemed appropriate.

Again, thank you to all our new followers and all the warm wishes and tips we received.

Todays funny, thought or quote,

Wow my first blog!

This is my first blog ever!  I am so excited!  I am starting this blog as a way to keep my family and friends informed of our travels and whereabouts, and to keep in touch.

Our retirement trip wont start until Sept.  But I want to practice with this blogging when I can.  Bare with me as I learn the ins and out.

This past week we took a trip to NYC.  Now, for all you who know me, I have avoided NYC all of my adult life.  I dislike the place with a vengeance and hate large city driving or riding.  So, the thought of my baby going to the city and driving around alone while Travis took his test was not going to happen.  So, long story short, Ed and I went to NYC with Amanda and Travis.  Turned out to be, not so bad a trip.  Amazing things happen when you don't expect them to.

From our hotel room on the NJ side of the Hudson, we had a great view of the Enterprise space shuttle being flown to NYC from Washington DC.  A little history of the Enterprise......It was the first shuttle built and it was never launched into space.  It did make a small solo flight, lifting off from a 747.  It received it's name from a group of school children who won a contest.  Yes it is named after the Starship Enterprise from Star Trek.  The Enterprise will be loaded onto a barge and floated up the Hudson and lifted onto the deck of the retired battleship the Intrepid.

Now for the garden, spring is here, still a little cool but, flowers are coming up and I am so ready to get outside start playing in the dirt.

And of course the wildlife

Thanks for stopping by,
